What is EVA film?
EVA is a thermosetting and sticky adhesive film used to be placed between laminated glass.A functional film processed by adding cross-linking agents, coupling agents, anti-UV agents and other ingredients to a resin based on ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer.Due to the advantages of EVA film in terms of adhesion, durability, and optical properties, it is increasingly used in current components and various optical products.
Characteristics of EVA film
EVA is solid at room temperature, has no viscosity, and has poor light transmittance. When EVA is heated to a certain temperature, EVA will melt and bond to the objects in contact with it. The EVA used for solar cell encapsulation is a specially designed thermosetting hot melt adhesive that produces a cross-linking reaction when heated and melted. When the temperature is low, the cross-linking reaction occurs very slowly and the time required to complete curing is longer. On the contrary, the time required is relatively short. Therefore, it is necessary to choose an appropriate lamination temperature so that EVA can obtain fluidity in the melt and a curing reaction occurs at the same time. As the reaction proceeds, the degree of cross-linking increases, and EVA loses its fluidity and plays the role of encapsulation.
The EVA film will bond the battery, glass and backplane into a whole under a certain temperature and pressure, providing strong mechanical protection and effectively protecting the cell from erosion by the external environment.
