IEC61215 Mechanical Stress Test
Date : 2024-01-26Views : 40
In the last issue, we introduced the electrical safety test of IEC61215. In this issue, Millennial Solar will introduce to you the mechanical stress test.
Terminal strength test
Purpose: To determine whether the lead-out and its attachment to the photovoltaic module can withstand the forces experienced during normal installation and operation.
Test process: bend once in each opposite direction with a pulling force not exceeding the weight of the photovoltaic module, and cycle 10 times.
The following requirements should be met:
(1): No mechanical damage;
(2): The attenuation of the maximum output power shall not exceed 5% of the test value before the test;
(3): The insulation resistance should meet the same requirements as the initial test.
Hail test
Purpose: To verify that the module can withstand the impact of hail.
Test process: An ice ball of a certain mass hits the ten areas marked on the photovoltaic module at a speed corresponding to the table below.
The following requirements should be met:
(1): No serious appearance defects;
(2): The attenuation of the maximum output power shall not exceed 5% of the test value before the test;
(3): The insulation resistance should meet the same requirements as the initial test.

Outdoor exposure test
Purpose: To initially evaluate the ability of photovoltaic modules to withstand exposure to outdoor conditions, and to reveal comprehensive attenuation effects that may not be measured in laboratory tests.
Test process: Expose the module to the sun outdoors and measure it with a monitor so that the total radiation received by the module is 60kWh·m-2.
The following requirements should be met:
(1): No serious appearance defects;
(2): The maximum output power attenuation should not exceed 5% of the measured value before the test;
(3): The insulation resistance should meet the same requirements as the initial test.
Hail Impact Tester
Hail Impact Tester is a hail test equipment developed based on the MQT17 clause of the IEC61215 standard. It uses air pressure to impact ice balls of different diameters (artificial ice balls are used to simulate hail), and impacts photovoltaic modules at a constant speed to simulate the impact of hail weather on photovoltaic modules to verify the ability of photovoltaic modules to resist hail impact.
